“Paint & Pints” – Artist Reception

Aztec Brewery presents “Paint & Pints”: A Group Exhibition, the first in a series of events showcasing local painters and local beers. The show will run from Saturday February 18 through Sunday February 19. An Artist reception will be held on Saturday Feb. 18 from 2-5pm at the brewery and is open to the public.

Please stop by for the reception! I would love to see you there!  Art and Beer… how can you go wrong?!

A live painting demonstration will be presented by local artist David Lozeau. Food provided by Epic Eatz.

This was the first painting that I created during ArtHatch’s 24 hour Art-A-Thon. During the winter, it is difficult to find any flowers but the cool season lends to an abundance of hardy vegetables, and I was drawn to a variety of colorful cabbages at the local Flower Market. I love this particular one because of the bright veins running through each leaf. The title, A Rush of Blood, has a variety of interpretations and I intended every one of them! This was a extremely fun event to be a part of and I can’t wait for next year’s Art-A-Thon.

This is the second painting that I created during ArtHatch’s 24 hour Art-A-Thon.  By the time I started on this painting I well through almost 12 hours of painting, in other words I was dead tired.  But I pressed on and surprisingly created this little gem.  This was a really fun event and show to be part of, I can’t wait for the next one in 2013!

This January, I have signed on for the biggest, longest and most intense art event of my life: a 24-Hour Art-A-Thon. I will spend 24 hours in my studio along with 20+ artists dedicated to creating art for the entire 24 hours.Yes, I might very well be crazy, but this is all for a good cause. ArtHatch (a non-profit organization) supporting free art education for local teens, will be hosting this event. At the end of the 24 hours, every piece of art I have created during the event will be auctioned off, all pieces starting at $25 (50% of the proceeds will go to ArtHatch).  But before I can even take part in this, I need to gather donations and pledges. I am asking you, dear friends, to help me reach my goal of $200.  You may either make a one time donation or pledge a minimum of $1 an hour for every hour I paint during this event (hopefully, I can make it through the full 24 hours!)  You can make your tax-deductible donations online through http://arthatch.org/donate Please don’t forget to mention my name when pledging.

I’m really looking forward to this, I plan on creating many paintings! I will keep you updated if I have reached my goal. Wish me luck!! The 24 hour marathon will be held on January 13 @ 8pm through January 14 @8pm, ending with a BIG Reception and silent auction of all of the work completed during the 24 hours.  Please help me celebrate a long end to 24 hours of painting and creativity on January 14 from 6-10pm at Distinction Gallery. “From Blanks to Beauty”

Stop by Mosaic Wine Bar in San Diego on November 17, 2011 and see a small piece that I created for Synergy Art Foundation‘s Small Canvas Exhibition and Auction entitled “From Blanks to Beauty”.  Synergy Art Foundation distributed blank 10” x 10” canvases throughout the county, challenging local artists to create small format works using the theme “Beauty”.

The project, aptly entitled “From Blanks to Beauty”, has resulted in gathering over 100 original and highly diverse works in varying media, from seasoned and emerging artists. All artworks will be showcased at the Mosaic Wine Bar in a silent auction format on Thursday, November 17, from 6-10p.m. Participating artists will split the proceeds 50/50 and others have donated all to Synergy’s EASL program,(Emergency Artists’ Support League) which offers limited emergency financial assistance to local visual arts professionals in desperate need because of a medical crisis, accident, fire or loss of personal and professional property. If you looking for a wonderful gift for someone special, you’ll find a fantastic selection at the event. Opening bid for each piece will start at $50. The Mosaic Wine Bar is located at 3422 30th. St.t, San Diego, 92014. A percentage of the bar’s proceeds that evening will be donated to Synergy Art Foundation.

Figure Drawing with Greg Evans!

It has been quite awhile since I last joined a Live Figure Drawing Group.  ArtHatch (AKA Distinction Gallery) has recently started up a new group.  Knowing this, I decided to join in on the first night!  This was really exciting!  Much to my surprise that night, the very talented and famous Greg Evans (creator of the Luann Comic-Strip) showed up to draw with me and my other fellow artists including Victor Roman, Sonyarletta, and Melissa Inez Walker. I was among good company and fine talent that evening! Our model was beautiful and I created some great sketches from her. I’m definitely looking forward to the next drawing group. I wonder whom and what other talents I will run into!
